Problems with the Electoral College


1)    Everyone’s vote does not count equally in the presidential election

e.g. Wyoming, Rhode Island = votes count more

e.g. California, Texas = votes count less


2)    “Winner takes all”


3)    Although unlikely, you can become President with only 22% of the popular vote. Three times in American history the candidate without the majority of the popular vote became President (e.g. 2000 George W. Bush vs. Al Gore)
